Here it is the last day at Crufts 2010.. I feel totally humiliated. At 76 years old and what? 40 years in the breed? Because a "Kennel Club official" their Vet, said my 5 month old baby GSD was unsound and they did not want her to be on a display team which the members of the public would see and which the K.C. felt was not the "sort of German Shepherd" they wanted the General Public to see I was asked to leave. Yes... Get out FAST ... leave the show. No questions of not going in the team again but "Get Out" ... LEAVE" How humiliating is that? A 5 month old baby? Loose yes ... Unsound at 5 months? possibly but 110% sound in character, 110 % sound in working ability - exactly WHAT are the K.C. looking for? Here we have 110% soundness of character - even the KC Official said that - but because she is a baby and loose I get banished from Crufts 2010. For my part - lets get away from this beauocracy and stupidness. We can do without it.

A FOLLOW UP MESSAGE FROM PAM EDGINGTON

Hi David, just got back from seeing Simon, my Vet since the 1980's, Lotty has had a very thorough examination, she starts swimming in a hydro pool next week to help firm her up. When I asked him to pay particular attention to her hindquarters he asked me if I was worried, naturally I said no.  He watched her walk, trot, rotated the hips, and said they are exactly what he would expect one of my GSD puppies to look like at 5 months, why?  So I told him ... after 10 minutes when he had stopped laughing and holding his side his comment was My God if every GSD pup we have in here were even 50% as sound for a 5 month old we would be delighted.  She is loose yes, but because she is well boned it is to be expected, and he has advised me to not exercise unduly and in total agreement with swimming.

He went on to say that far too many GSD's lacked bone and therefore were never loose in the hind action. He said he would take a bet that at 12 months no vet in the land will call her a cripple!!! THERE IS NO ABNORMALITY WHATSOEVER. Just puppy looseness and he said he felt she was now in a very awkward growth stage but in his opinion this would correct itself by the time she was 8 or 9 months old. So there we are, he said she was a lovely puppy, her character is without fault, has a colour to die for, and everything he would expect one of my puppies to look like.

He said he felt the KC had made an error in selecting one of mine to pick on!!! He does not know of any other breeder to all I do, many take great are but do not go the whole hog.  He said sometimes he felt I overdo the health issues, even to the point of the herpes on my bitches before whelping etc.  Wished me luck and said I have absolutely no worries but to promise him I would go back to the KC and prove them wrong. End of story - but now I rest easy, she has been checked out and pronounced just what a 5 month old GSD should be.
